Florence and Huishu moderated the session “The role of mega-event to enhance industrial heritage in urban (re)development” in TICCIH Congress, UQAM, Montreal, Canada, August 31, 2022. In this session, they also presented the research project with the title “Mega-event reinforced industrial heritage transformation: a typological matrix between narratives and practices”. Meanwhile, Helena presented her research about cases in Beijing and Shanghai with the title “Creative clusters in China: from artists villages to the leisure city”; and Mengke presented her research from the perspective of consumption practices with the title “The state-led use of industrial heritage in mega-events in China”.

This session was a premise to develop the special issue “Industrial heritage sites and mega-events: An opportunity for urban redevelopment and social change?” in the international journal Built Heritage, guest edited by Anne-Marie Broudehoux (École du Design, UQAM, Canada) and Florence. It’s expected to be published in June 2024.
