Dr. Thierry Theurillat is an urban and economic geographer. His expertise mainly focuses on financial geography, urban and real estate development and sustainability issues in China and Switzerland.
After his PhD thesis regarding ‘a territorial approach of finance in regional and urban development’ at the University of Neuchâtel, he settled down with his family in Qujing, Yunnan Province, from 2011 to 2014. The aim was to embed in the Chinese culture before doing research about the Finance-Real Estate nexus in China while being affiliated at the Real Estate and Construction Department of the University of Hong Kong (2015-2016). (2014-2016). He is also currently leading a Swiss national foundation research project entitled “The changing role of real estate in Swiss urban development: evidence and theoretical reframing’’.
Dr. Thierry Theurillat is a professor and senior researcher at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Western Switzerland (HES-SO) in Neuchâtel (Switzerland).
